Cabramatta Creek and Brickmakers Creek Masterplan Engagement

Overview

Liverpool City Council is in the process of drafting a Masterplan for two corridors – Cabramatta Creek and Brickmakers Creek. The Masterplan will outline an exciting new vision for the network of parks and open spaces located along these much-loved and naturally important waterways.

Council is seeking community input to help plan for the future of these green corridors that connect the Liverpool Local Government Area and cater to a wide variety of local and regional uses.

Funded in collaboration with the NSW Government’s Metropolitan Greenspace Program, Council is looking to establish a versatile network of parks that can better meet local needs as well as accommodate larger-scale events while providing greater connectivity between key destinations, such as Woodward Place, to our growing CBD.

Over the coming months, Council will be working closely with the NSW Government, partner councils, local businesses and residents to help prepare a Masterplan that will identify opportunities for both green corridors. The vision and priorities within the document will guide future work in revitalising the area.

Where is the project taking place?

Cabramatta & Brickmakers Creek

This Masterplan encompasses two distinct corridors - Cabramatta Creek and Brickmakers Creek. Within these two corridors, there are 38 parks that cater to a variety of uses and attract people from across the Liverpool Local Government Area as well as regional visitors.

What is a green corridor?

A green corridor is a collection of parks, open spaces and fields that are connected by a creek or estuary.  These spaces connect town centres, public transport hubs, and major residential areas while also keeping the region cool, encouraging healthy lifestyles, supporting walking and cycling, providing better access to open space, enhancing bushland and supporting ecological resilience.

What is a Masterplan?

A Masterplan for these corridors will create a strategic approach for the improvement and management of these spaces. We want to ensure everyone in the Liverpool Local Government Area is able to access and enjoy great open spaces closer to home.

This Cabramatta Creek and Brickmakers Creek Masterplan will consider flooding conditions, environmental impacts, community needs and priorities, transportation, recreation, and land use with the aim of promoting healthy living and community spirit through access to high quality, ecologically sustainable open spaces.

What comes next?

This is the first opportunity to help shape the draft vision for these important spaces.

Feedback received by Sunday 1 May 2022 will be reviewed, analysed and incorporated into the first draft of the Masterplan.

At a later stage, we will present the draft Masterplan for community feedback, and illustrate how your inputs have helped shape the draft.
