Winter is a blast in Liverpool

Ice skating, igloos and winter food and drinks are only some of the many ways winter is going to be celebrated at Liverpool’s July Winter Blast weekend.

Liverpool Mayor Ned Mannoun said Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre will be transformed into a winter-themed playground and entertainment venue.

“Instead of hunkering down this winter, we’re urging residents across Liverpool and Western Sydney to do the exact opposite and enjoy the cold,” Mayor Mannoun said.

“Imagine being able to come to Casula Powerhouse, go ice staking, go dancing and have some great winter food from 4pm to 10pm, Friday 12 to Sunday 14 July.

“Archie Rose Distillery will have a pop-up bar, there is a wide range of food stalls, and a “silent disco” with dance challenges, prizes and give aways.

“Each night there will also be a display of the Aurora Australis – saving you the trip to Tasmania to see one of the great natural wonders of the world.

Mayor Mannoun said other activities included “Frost Bites” - evening classes that make winter-themed bites to decorate and eat including snowflake cupcakes, penguin cupcakes, polar bear cupcakes and a snowman cake pop.

Food and drink options include wagu skewers, Churros, Chinese and Vietnamese delights, as well as food from South America, India, and the middle east with sticky date pudding for dessert and fairy floss for fun.

“There’s also a wonderful Après Ski dining experience where a huge range of winter food treats will be available such as Swiss cheese fondue and chips with Canadian poutine.
