You may have seen recent media reports about a health and safety issue at our landmark Moore Street building.
- Four people reported thyroid cancer and are part of an investigation by the NSW Department of Health.
- One person also reported thyroid cancer, while another reported a thyroid condition but neither consented to be part of the investigation.
- Liverpool City Council advised the NSW Health Department and is acting in accordance with its protocols.
- We relocated staff currently working on level six of the building to level four while the investigations are underway.
- Council takes this very seriously and future action will be based on the results of two concurrent investigations.
- The Council engaged a third-party environmental health consultant and the NSW Department of Health is undertaking an epidemiological investigation.
- We will continue to keep all staff members informed as we receive further information.
- Staff have also been advised they can have leave to seek their own medical advice should they have any concerns.
